General Summary:

Assists Manager, Communications & Public Relations with internal and external communications projects. Assists with preparation of press releases, briefing materials, company presentations, newsletter articles, fact sheets, marketing materials, remarks and scripts, among other written materials. Assists Manager, Communications & Public Relations with internal and external events, such as town hall meetings, and news conferences. Assist with preparation and implementation of Tenaska corporate and plant events, conferences and internal and external meetings.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, mass or multimedia communications or other related degree

• Three to five years of journalism, public relations or political communications experience

• Excellent grammar, writing, editing and communication skills

• Proficiency in Associated Press news-writing style

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint administration and communications

• Familiarity with enterprise content management (ECM)

• Proficient in, or willingness to learn digital media (newsletters, survey/RSVP websites, etc.)

• Proven internal and external communications skills

• Special projects and events coordination experience

• Ability to execute numerous parallel tasks and work with cross-functional teams

• Ability to independently prioritize work and make sustained progress

• Analytical

• Familiarity with Spanish and business, energy, financial background a plus.

Essential Job Functions:

With guidance of and supervision by Manager, Communications & Public Relations:

• Assist with writing and editing news releases, briefing materials, talking points, Q&A, newsletter articles, fact sheets, marketing materials and company presentations

• Assist with writing and editing remarks and scripts, website content development for Tenaska website and plant and project websites, and internal communications for various corporate departments

• Assist with special projects, including community events, news conferences, presentations, giveaways and develop supporting materials

• Monitor news media and social media, and maintain social media accounts

• List management.

Plant, Project Development & Business Unit Assistance

• With guidance and supervision, update communication materials, including newsletters, maps, event materials and displays, forms, name tags, fact sheets, bios, websites, presentations, departmental binders and intranet, among others

• Assist with review and editing of Tenaska proposal and presentation information.

Media & Advertising

• With guidance and supervision, draft and review ad copy, place ads, develop print media kit materials

• Review and place environmental ad copy.

Supportive Job Functions

• Special projects organization

• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Manager, Communications & Public Relations *
